Welcome To My Blog!
I am very excited to write my first blog for our website. I look forward to sharing stories about my adventures in the coffee business as well as news about our company and upcoming events pertaining to our company.
I’d like to give you a little background information about myself. Although I have been working full-time for McLaughlin Coffee Company for just over seven years now, I would consider myself a lifetime employee of the coffee industry. I grew up in El Cerrito, a city just a few miles from Emeryville. My dad started our company in 1983, and, from a very young age, I helped out at the warehouse whenever I had the opportunity. During the summers, I helped fill orders and I even learned how to roast. Well…all I really did was help our roaster move green coffee bags around the warehouse, but I am sticking to the story that I was a coffee roaster when I was ten years old!
I went to high school at Saint Mary’s College High School in Berkeley. During the summers, I helped deliver coffee to our customers, which was a great way to meet all of our loyal customers. I then headed to the University of California at Davis for four years of college, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Managerial Economics and a Minor Degree in Communications. The summer after my first year of college, I worked as a barista at a café in Benicia that served our coffee. That was a great experience because, in order to understand what truly went on at the retail end of the business, I needed to experience it first-hand.
I started working full-time at McLaughlin Coffee Company in 2003. I have never had a full-time job that was not in the coffee industry, so I guess you can say that I was born into a life of coffee. Currently, I oversee the day-to-day operations at McLaughlin Coffee Company, which includes: sales, quality control, equipment repairs and maintenance, coffee tastings, and trainings for owners and employees of cafes and restaurants that serve our coffee.
