We are excited to carry this experimental microlot to support the efforts of the Wuri washing station in their attempts to create a defect-free version of a washed Ethiopia Gedeb. This coffee is fruity, sweet, and very clean in the cup. It starts with citrus acidity up front that is a wonderful balance of tart and sweet. Some of the notes on the acidity were orange blossom, bergamot, and sweet lemon. The middle of the cup is where the sugary sweetness shines through and carries into the bready, pastry finish.

We are only offering this coffee in 12oz bags and we will have it available until it sells out. If you want it ground, please specify the grind you would like in the order notes when you get to your cart.

Roast Color: Light

Cupping Notes: Citrus, Sweet, Pastry

Story: The Wuri washing station was originally constructed in 2012 and today is owned by Ranger Industry & Trading PLC. Wuri, aside from producing assertive and tropical fully washed coffees, is also focused on achieving a diversity of processing and milling standards in order to iterate on local traditions and expand expectations of coffees from this area. This “Grade Zero” selection comes from a collaborative effort between our friends at Royal Coffee and Ranger Industry & Trading to design a near-perfect rendition of a top washed Ethiopia Gedeb.

This experimental microlot begins as a careful fully-washed outturn, fermented 48 hours and washed under fresh water. Once dried, the coffee is treated to extra sorting steps at the dry mill, including multiple additional passes in the color sorter and a longer, slower hand-removal of imperfections. The idea is to present a better-than-Grade 1 result, hence the grade “0”.
