The coffee roaster is a key member of McLaughlin Coffee’s production operations and is responsible for not only roasting coffee but is critical in upholding our high-quality standards that have resulted in our loyal following.

Our hours are Monday-Friday from 7 am - 4 pm with a 1-hour lunch.
Responsibilities:
- Operate the coffee roaster and ensure quality and consistency of roasts
- Operate roasting machinery in accordance with all safety standards
- Conduct routine cleaning and scheduled maintenance of roasting equipment and maintain a clean, sanitary space throughout the roastery
- Maintain roaster, organic, and maintenance logs in accordance with overseeing agencies and our policies
- Participate in coffee tastings and help develop new products and blends
- Work as part of a fast-paced team to fulfill wholesale and e-commerce orders accurately and efficiently
- Learn to successfully operate the weigh and fill machines, sealers, scales, and grinders with efficiency
- Prep, organize, fill, and quality check coffee bags to meet needs of daily orders
- Maintain clear knowledge on all products, packaging, and equipment
- Fully understand and execute all safety, quality, and sanitation policies and procedures
- Problem solve and demonstrate strong personal initiative
Qualifications:
- Work well with other members of your team
- Be able to take direction and switch back and forth between multiple tasks
- Communicate effectively with others, while working in team environment
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Be on the lookout to improve processes and make suggestions to improve efficiency
- Be adaptable to the varying demands and responsibilities of the work week
- Passion for coffee - desire to taste and learn about coffees from around the world
- Lead by example in the areas of quality control and cleanliness
- Take pride in your work and your work stations
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
- Ability to lift 75 pounds and safely maneuver 150 lbs on a regular basis
- Ability to read and follow written instructions accurately
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative to complete tasks, using workday efficiently
- Ability to stand up to 8+ hours
- Ability to bend, crouch, kneel and reach over-head, to complete tasks
