We've been gearing up for dealing with shipping delays, container shortages, and port congestion since the beginning of the year. The pandemic has caught up to the shipping market and the shortage of containers is causing delays in the shipment of coffee from the source countries. You likely saw the Evergreen container ship that was stuck in the Suez Canal. This situation only made things worse and brought the issues with the global shipping to the mainstream media.
On our end, we buy coffee far out into the future and we have plenty of coffee that has already arrived into the Port of Oakland. On the other hand, we also have a lot of coffee that typically arrives this time of year that has been delayed.
What does this mean for you? We will likely have some coffees that are unavailable for periods of time, and we'll offer alternatives when it makes sense to do so. It will certainly be an unpredictable few months as the supply chains work to get caught up, but we're doing all we can to fill any gaps and protect our supply so that we can get you the coffees you love!
