Story: Circa 1987, Mike’s brother and cousin, Pete and Bob, came to him suggesting that they create a blend named after Bob’s son, Max. They all agreed that the blend needed to be something very special and should taste like no other coffee in the Bay Area. After numerous tastings, experimentations, and mad scientist-like moments, Max’s Blend® was born. The final blend contained coffees from some of the most highly regarded coffee growing regions in the world. They found that Max’s Blend® truly shined as a dark roast. For the past 29 years, Max’s Blend® has consistently been our best-selling coffee that we offer.
I miss Max's blend when traveling and realize how fortunate I am to have access to this at home. The flavor and the low acidity are very important to me.
This blend is so perfect, it's difficult to describe the experience. It soothes me and charges me at the same time. It's bold but smooth and the flavor is earthy, like a French Roast- but it's in its own league. If you like dark roast, chances are this blend will be the end of the road for you- you won't go back. Trust me.
I first tasted this at a local bakery and had to find out the company name and blend. I’ve never loved a blend so much. It’s always great. Try it it’s much better than any other brand.
I've been ordering Mclaughlin's since the eighties, when I was introduced to it as a young chef/manager. It is a consistently high quality product and Max's Blend is my favorite of the pick. If you like a rich, complex, dark roast coffee, this is it.
I love this coffee. Having moved from the Bay Area I realized after trying lots of coffee in my new locale I could not do without McLaughlin's and Max's Blend is a great everyday full body, dark roast coffee. Thanks.
The Polk St Royal Ground coffee shop carried this forever, and then mysteriously last month they stopped. Why? It was literally the only reason I went there. I bought their last 5lb bag and managed to discover who the roaster was because McLaughlin's was still taped to one of the glass jars that they kept the beans in.
Now I can just order what I want.
Don't ever change.
I bought this a while back, but over the holidays ended up with extra coffee. I've just finished a pound of this and it was excellent from start to finish. Lovely bold flavor -- tastes like an ideal cup of coffee, but not bitter. I love strong coffee, but my stomach can't take high acid and this was perfect. Perfect for iced coffee too.
I don't normally go for blends, but once I tasted Max's I was hooked. This stuff is just awesome- consistently good. It reminds me of all the things I like about French & Italian roasts but with a very smooth rich flavor. I like to try new coffees now and then but always come back to Max's
